PHOTOJOURNALIST Marc Vallée being  interviewed outside New Scotland Yard at a Press Freedom Protest organised by the NUJ in 2008.  Published here by kind permission of Jonathan Warren 2008.  (c) Jonathan Warren 2008.

“Marc Vallée’s work brilliantly captures the vibrancy and spirit of protest – shining a light beyond the headlines to the people who today take to the streets in a cause and bringing them so vividly to life.  Marc’s images are a remarkable front line document of the spirit of dissent in modern Britain.” - Jeremy Dear.

“Marc Vallée is one of my favorite contemporary photographers.  Many artists are photographing the young, but Vallée’s work is exceptional and solitary, avoiding the kneejerk tendency to either define the young through their fashion sense or create the impression of communing with them by smothering them with fashionable aesthetics.  His photographs are fully interested in their subjects, somehow more respectful of their beauty and emotions and, at the same time, more invasive of their privacy than any other youth oriented images out there.  Vallée’s work is ravishing, noble, unique, and irresistible.”Dennis Cooper.

Hello Marc came here via Sion`s blog (which I came to via Jeremy Sutton Hibbert`s Tokyoland) and really like what you do and say. Moving back to the UK next week and though I am not in your league as a PJ at the moment, I aim to be one oneday and the current situation both for amateur and even professionals like yourself is worrying. Inspiring ideas and commitment. Hope your back is much better…shocking video!

Hi Mark,

I was told by a regular at a certain protest that police told them cameras, dictaphones and video cameras were illegal, can you clarify the law on this. I know it’s not illegal but what, if any, restricions are there? Cheers
