Campaigners protested against the nomination of journalist Julie Bindel for an award from Stonewall, the lesbian, gay and bisexual rights organisation. Transgender rights campaigns alleged Julie Bindel’s views on transgender issues were upsetting and offensive to the transgender, transsexual, gender-queer and intersex young community who already face great hardship and discrimination due to their gender identity.
