The “Salute to Israel” parade celebrated the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. The counter protest marked the 60th anniversary of the Nakba (the catastrophe) which saw hundreds of thousands of Palestinians forced from their homes and birth of the Israeli state. Great news on the Shiv Malik case this week. speaking outside the High Court after the ruling was announced, NUJ general secretary, Jeremy Dear, said,
“This ruling sends a clear signal to the police that they can’t see journalists as simply another tool of intelligence gathering.”
